Developed in Germany during the early 1900s, popularity of this round skyrocketed after WWII, and is currently used by military and police world-wide.
In 1904, John Browning developed this cartridge for a Colt prototype gun. This firearm became the official sidearm for the military in 1911; hence the name "1911 A-1 Government". Velocity is relatively slow, but the heavy bullet is known for it's "knockdown power" and is still being used by military, police and is popular among metal sillhouette shooters.
For safety reasons, firearms shooting the powerful magnum rounds are available to adults 18 and over only. However, the Instructor reserves the right to decline a shooter based on his/her judgement.
