S&W M686 .357 Magnum: Prior to the days when automatic weapons replaced revolvers, the .357 magnum was the choice of most police officers and lawmen alike. Very little malfunctions and in the unlikely event of a misfire, a revolver can quickly fire subsequent shots. Some officers still carry revolvers as their back-up guns.
